Benefits And Beyond

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
(Hebrews 6:9-10)

Thought For Today:
Most people looking for a job focus on the benefits package that comes with it.  Does it provide insurance?  Does it provide workmen's comp? Does it offer vacation time, sick leave, health care benefits, and a retirement plan?  Most people fail to realize that Jesus gives us these benefits in His salvation plan, and yet people will not work for Him.  David wrote, "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's" (Psalms 103:2-5).  And he also said, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah" (Psalms 68:19). 

If God daily loadeth us with benefits, shouldn't we want to work for Him? In writing to the Hebrews, Paul stated that he was persuaded of better things of them because of the things that came with their salvation.  When an employer hires you for a job, they expect a good, honest day's work in return for the benefits they provide.  The same holds true with Jesus.  He saved you, and therefore you should be willing to give Him an honest day's work for the benefits He is giving you.  Working for Jesus may not seem as though it pays much in this present world, but the retirement benefits are out of this world.
