Can You Smell The Battle Coming?

"Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible. He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword. The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield. He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet. He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting"(Job 39:19-25).

Thought For Today:
God seems to hit Job with some pretty hard questions in the end.  And one of those questions was about the horse.  He shares with him the horse’s strength, its inner thoughts, its power, and its lack of fear. He said that he can smell the battle, and it is as if he says within himself,  "Yes! This is what I was created for."  The Bible calls for us to, be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee  (Psalms 32:9). And this is true.  However, when we are born again and filled with God's Spirit, in so many ways, we should be like the horse.  We are to become filled with strength, power, and be without fear.  And because a battle is raging for the souls of men, we must be able to discern where the fight is and be ready to participate in it if it means delivering men's souls.
