Don’t Get Caught In A Holding Pattern
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.
(Hebrews 6:1-3)
Thought For Today:
I have come to realize that when people backslide and fall away from truth, it is because they quit moving towards perfection. For some unknown reason, they got into a holding pattern, and did not see the need to go forth. It's easy to get into a holding pattern if you: quit sharing your faith with others, you stop the necessities of praying and feasting on the Word of God. The more Bible studies you teach, the more you are moving towards perfection. As you are studying to teach others, you, yourself, are developing spiritual and mentally in the things of God. If all you know is the basic principles of salvation, you aren't growing in Christ. Peter tells us to add to our faith (2 Peter 1:5-11), and to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Acts 2:38 just got you on the right road, but it is going to take a life of daily commitment and dedication to God's word to make it all the way to the end.
