Give My Best To You Lord
Scripture Reading
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
And this is the offering which ye shall take of them: gold, and silver, and brass, And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood, Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense, Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.
And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. (Exodus 25:1-8)
Thought For Today
God Is Detailed in His Instructions
When we read God's Word in the Books of the Law, we see how detailed He is in describing what He wants to be done. Even in what He required from the people, He made His expectations clear and specific.
Why His Word Still Matters
Sometimes we may be tempted to think that these instructions no longer apply to us because we are under grace rather than under the law. Yet Scripture shows us the enduring value of God's commands. King David expressed this beautifully:
“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward” (Psalms 19:7-11).
God's instructions are valuable to us. When we obey His ways, our lives are changed for the better.
A Call to Build for His Presence
In today's passage from Exodus, God told Moses to ask the people for specific offerings so they could build a sanctuary where He would dwell among them. In other words, God was saying, “Build a place where I may meet with My people and dwell in their midst.”
That same question comes to us today: What are you contributing to build a sanctuary for God's presence in your life? He asks something of each of us. Are you giving it willingly?
