Give Your Best

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.   (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

Thought For Today:

This scripture is also spoken by the apostle Paul to the Colossian church.  He told them, "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ" (Colossians 3:23-24).
So, when we hear from the incredibly wise King Solomon and perhaps the greatest preacher, Paul, it really makes us think: how much effort and energy are we putting into what we're doing or what is being asked of us? What kind of job performance is your employer receiving from you?  Are you taking shortcuts because you are lazy?  Are you shirking your responsibilities because it's not your business?  Are you doing just enough to avoid getting fired?  Typically, the individuals who find themselves let go from a job are often those who haven’t made a strong impression on their employer or supervisor. When it comes time to make difficult decisions about staffing, those who haven’t built a solid rapport may not have anyone advocating for them.  Ask yourself, if the place you worked was yours, what kind of productivity would you want from your workers?  Are you giving that type of productivity?  Jesus told us to do unto others as we would have them do unto us.  Every job or task that you are given should receive your very best.  You really do feel good about yourself when you have given it your best.
