God Is With Us At All Times
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:28-31)
Thought For Today:
The church in Rome appears to be a church eager to learn more. From the beginning of the book of Romans to the last chapter, Paul, by all accounts, seems to have the pedal to the metal and is pressing forward to help this church gain a deeper understanding of Christ. His sixth chapter aims to remind them that sin will kill you and that they should avoid it at all costs. The eighth chapter is to inform them that if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they are not His. He also encourages them to hold onto their hope no matter what challenges they face and go through in life. And because they are Christ's, all things will work together for their good. But then, he gives them what I like to call a shot in the arm. He says to them, "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Paul is letting the church know that God is with His church at all times. And that if God be for us, everyone else might as well be too. Like Paul, I am confident, just like he told the church in Philippi, "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6).
