Godly Power

Acts 1:4-8
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Thought For Today:

Someone once said that the person with the most money has the most power. I suppose I could agree with that statement, considering that Jesus has more money than anyone else. The psalmist said, "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God"(Psalms 62:11). The difference between a person who is filled with the Holy Ghost and has power, and a person in the world who thinks they have power, is temperance. God's power causes one to react differently. They do not exalt themselves, but they use their power to exalt the giver of the power, Jesus Christ. Those who seek power in this world often use it to elevate themselves. However, Jesus taught that once we receive His power, we become witnesses for Him throughout the world. With the Holy Ghost within us, we never have to worry about our power running out because it will be a constant flow. Therefore, it is more beneficial to seek godly power rather than worldly power. With godly power, our lives are renewed every day.
