God’s Gentle Nudge
Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days. And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

Thought For Today
Have you ever been chatting with someone, and suddenly you think, “Wait a minute—I’ve dreamed this before!”? That familiar feeling isn’t unusual for people of faith. Throughout the Bible, God often uses dreams and visions to guide us and show us His plans in amazing ways.
Take Paul, for example: one night, he saw a man in a vision saying, “Come over to help us.” That vision ended up being fulfilled when Paul met the jailer, just like we read in Acts 16. Or think about Peter—while resting on the rooftop at Simon the Tanner’s house, he saw a vision of all kinds of animals. At first, Peter didn’t realize that God was getting him ready to bring the good news to people outside his community, like Cornelius and his family (Acts 10).
When Peter spoke on the day of Pentecost, he quoted the prophet Joel, reminding everyone of God’s promise: “...your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17). These moments weren’t just random—they were God’s way of moving His story forward.
Just as Paul’s vision led him to the jailer, and Peter’s vision brought him to Cornelius, sometimes you might realize that the person right in front of you is the one God wants you to help. If you ever get that sense of “I’ve dreamed this before,” consider it a little nudge from God, reminding you that He’s working through you in that very moment. No matter what those dreams or visions look like, if they’re from God, you can trust they’ll come true.
Above all, never forget: God has a special purpose just for you. That purpose is to share the good news with everyone—whether they’re already believers or still searching. Trust that when God gives you dreams and visions, He’s weaving them into His bigger plan for your life and for those around you.
