Greive Not
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)
Thought For Today:
Often, when pondering the word of God, I find myself asking why many Christians seem so filled with sorrow and grief. If Jesus has borne these things for us, shouldn’t we be excited and uplifted? Why do we allow our heartaches and unhappiness to overtake us when Jesus has encouraged us to cast all of our cares upon Him? As Christians, the scriptures give us hope (Romans 15:4). Weeping may endure for a night, but if we focus on what Jesus has done for us then joy should come in the morning. Remember, Jesus is the antidote for the troubled mind (John 14:1).
