Judgement Is Coming

Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

(Psalms 96:10-13)

Thought For Today

As Christians, we are called to live with expectation for the soon return of Jesus. The people of Israel were aware that the Messiah was promised to come, yet many were unprepared for His arrival and were caught off guard. In the biblical account, only a few—such as Simeon and Anna, a prophetess—were actively watching and waiting for Him. They remained near the temple, anticipating His coming with hope and faith.

The Psalmist reminds us that the Lord will come to judge the earth and its people with His truth. Jesus Himself declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6), affirming that He embodies the very truth by which we will be judged. During His earthly ministry, Jesus also said, "And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day" (John 12:47-48).

If we put the teaching of the word of God into practice, as James 1:22-25 encourages us to be "doers of the word," we have nothing to fear regarding the coming judgment. Instead, we can face that day with confidence, ready and expectant for Jesus' return.
