Let Go Of Those Heavy Weights
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Thought For Today:
Are you trying to run this race with weights on? Are you carrying excessive baggage? Are you carrying the weight of guilt, failure, past hurt, misunderstanding, rejection, divorce, letdown, or lies? Are you one of those who can't see the blessings and benefits of God because you are weighed down? The Psalms call for us to lift up our heads, and the Lord will come in. Solomon said, "A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both. Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?" (Proverbs 27:3-4). The previous weights are like the stone and sand. They weigh you down so you can't run. And pretty soon, you will become discouraged and depressed, and may give up and give in, missing the finish line. You need to remove those weights and run this race with patience, looking unto Jesus. You also need to see Jesus at the finish line waiting for you, and the crowd of great witnesses on the side cheering you on. "If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small" (Proverbs 24:10)
