Spiritually Mature

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:12-14)

Thought For Today:
At what point would you look at a person as being mature in Christ?  What yardstick would you use to measure them?  In spirituality, age cannot be used to determine spiritual maturity. I have seen many people of natural age who are spiritually immature.  But once we are filled with God's Spirit, we should begin to move towards maturity.  And that begins with developing the trait of self-discipline or temperance. Naturally, you can usually tell how mature a person is by their conduct and actions.  And these same tokens, their conduct and action, should reveal their spiritual maturity.  Paul told the Hebrews that they needed milk, not strong meat, because they were still spiritually immature.  If we are going to have a clear understanding of spiritual things, then we must become a doer of God's Word and not a hearer only.
