The Best Gift
And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
(Luke 4:28-29)
Thought For Today:
By now, many people have returned the Christmas gifts they didn't like or didn't want. Sometimes we find that it’s hard to please people. In reality, we should learn to appreciate that someone was caring enough to consider getting us a gift. But our world has become a world of unthankful people. And therefore, it is easy to reject and return what was given to them. I'm not saying that everyone is unthankful, but you know what I mean.
God gave us the best gift (James 1:17) and yet, many still do not want it. Gifts are given out of thoughtfulness, not based on what we may want or need. John wrote, "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:11-13). The greatest gift of all was rejected and is still rejected by many. What about you?
