The Foundation Test
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)
Thought For Today:
Paul shares with us a valuable insight about building our lives on God's foundation. When we do this, everything we do as believers will be tested—not to discourage us, but to help us grow stronger. Whether it’s our faith or the way we walk with God, each step will face moments of challenge and opportunity.
Our faith will encounter trials, but that’s part of the journey. When we go through difficult times, a firm foundation helps us stand strong. If our faith wavers, it may struggle under pressure. Paul reminds us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17), but our faith is truly rooted in God’s power (1 Corinthians 2:5).
It’s easy to say we have faith, but living it out is what matters. When our faith is supported by the loving and powerful presence of the Holy Ghost in our lives, it won’t be easily shaken. If our roots are deep and strong, those tough times will only make us stronger.
That’s why it’s so important to pair everything we do with the Word of God and prayer. When we build our works on this foundation, they will stand the test of time. Works shaped by God’s word and sustained through prayer will flourish, even when life gets tough.
