Use It Or Lose It
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
(1 Timothy 4:12-16)
Thought For Today:
We must never stop learning. Today's technology has even forced some of the elderly to return to learning to stay abreast of the times. Paul told Timothy, until he comes, to give himself to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. It amazes me as to how fast we lose our strength when we lie too long in a hospital bed. When we aren’t moving and going, we deteriorate so fast. The same is true when we quit studying the word of God. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. Every child of God must be proficient in the doctrine of Christ. A sign that you've stopped learning is that you don't know how many animals Moses took with him on the Ark. If you said two of each, you are wrong. Moses didn't take any animals on the Ark with him; Noah did! Keep on studying; we want to be workmen who need not be ashamed.
