We Need True Wisdom
Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil (Proverbs 1:20-33).
Thought For Today:
So many things are taking place in our world today that even the very elect are becoming confused. But it is nothing new, the Bible has already warned us that evil seducers would wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But wisdom is crying out, and understanding is calling, asking, 'How long?' How long will you allow filthy, vulgar, venom-spitting, sexual innuendos, lying, killing, cheating, gambling, and profanity to inundate your hearts? How long will you refuse to take action and do nothing about it? But I am persuaded of better things of you, beloved, things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. How long, wisdom asks, will you hate knowledge? How long before you make God your number one priority? Wisdom is crying, understanding is calling, prepare ye for the coming of the Lord. Jesus said, "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matthew 24:36-44). Can you discern the times? If not, you need wisdom and understanding. "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee" (Proverbs 4:7-9)
