One Law, One Gospel, One Plan

And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof: But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof. A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof. In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. (Exodus 12:43-49)

Thought For Today

We hear a great deal today about unfairness. I was once told by a woman that some people believe God picks and chooses. But Scripture reminds us that God’s ways are not our ways. As the Lord spoke through the prophet Isaiah: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8–9).

At times, it may seem as though God is unfair, but that is not true. God told Moses and Aaron, “One law shall be to him that is home born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.” Notice that—one law. All of Israel was required to follow the same law that God had given them. Though God’s thoughts and ways are far above ours, He is still no respecter of persons.

The same principle applies in the church. There is not one plan of salvation for one person and another plan for someone else. God has given only one plan: the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the apostle Peter declared, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

According to this plan, we must:

·       repent of our sins,

·       be baptized in Jesus’ name,

·       receive the infilling of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in an unknown language as the Spirit gives utterance, and

·       live a holy life separated unto God.

That is His plan.
